Do I Have To Give My Ex-Spouse My Address?

Blog, Family Law

In most cases, the court will require that both parents keep each other informed of the children’s whereabouts. By design, that requires each spouse to know the other’s home address, as well as the address of any place the children will be spending a significant amount of time (grandparents, girlfriend, boyfriend, etc.). If there is a history of abuse or threats of harm, however, the court has the authority to arrange for alternative periods of contact between a parent and child, while not requiring the other parent to reveal his or her address. The type of violence, how long ago it occurred, and the current circumstances will all be factors in the court’s reasoning.
