Family Law Attorney Richard Orsinger Earns Top Honor For Continuing Education Article

News

DALLAS – Attorney Richard R. Orsinger, named partner in the Family Law boutique Orsinger, Nelson, Downing & Anderson, L.L.P., recently received the 2013 Franklin Jones Best Continuing Legal Education Article Award from the College of the State Bar of Texas. The award is given for the best CLE article on any topic published by the State Bar of Texas in 2013.

Mr. Orsinger earned the honor for his paper “170 Years of Contract Law,” which was presented in conjunction with the History of Texas Supreme Court Jurisprudence course in April 2013.

Mr. Orsinger is only the second attorney to earn two Franklin Jones awards. He previously earned the prestigious award in 2009 for his two-part paper “Practicing Family Law in a Depressed Economy: Your Law Practice and Your Clients and The Economy.”

“I am honored to receive this recognition for my paper on the history of Texas contract law,” says Mr. Orsinger. “This article was one of the most difficult research and writing projects I have undertaken. However, not enough has been written in Texas CLE literature about the principles of contract law, and no one had surveyed the development of Texas contract law from its inception.”

Regarded as an historical reference work as well as a guide to the practical application of modern-day contract principles to issues of contract formation, interpretation, and enforcement, Mr. Orsinger’s article offers a case-by-case analysis of all important Texas Supreme Court cases on contract law, from 1840 forward, as well as a comprehensive statement of modern contract law principles. The article may be viewed or downloaded here.

With offices in Dallas and San Antonio, Orsinger, Nelson, Downing & Anderson, L.L.P., is one of the largest firms in Texas specializing solely in Family Law.
