Valeria Villagomez

Biography

Valeria Villagomez knew she wanted to practice family law long before earning her J.D. Having experienced her parents’ divorce at a young age, she understands how overwhelming these moments can be, especially for children. As the middle child of seven, she witnessed firsthand the need for patience, understanding, and compassion during difficult transitions. Resultantly, she believes empathy and clear communication are essential to effective advocacy.

Born in Ecuador and raised in the United States, Valeria grew up in a family that moved often, allowing her to connect with people from many cultures and backgrounds. These experiences shaped her ability to build trust, work collaboratively, and meet every client with respect and understanding. She credits her mother for instilling in her the kindness, resilience, and dedication that continue to guide her practice.

Valeria graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and earned her law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law, where she served as the President of the Hispanic Law Students Association. She is fluent in both spoken and written Spanish, which allows her to serve a broader range of families in their preferred language. Prior to joining Orsinger, Nelson, Downing & Anderson as an associate, Valeria clerked with the firm in 2024, where she gained valuable experience in complex family law matters and developed a strong foundation for her practice.

Outside the office, Valeria and her fiancé, also a family law attorney, enjoy watching movies, trying new foods, and going on bike rides.
